Protection for small and medium-sized businesses

Protect your business. Even when not everything goes to plan.

Behind a working business lie years of effort, investment and responsibility. Damaged premises, a machine out of action or harm caused to a customer can affect not only your assets, but also your income, your orders and the way your business runs.

We will help you set up insurance based on how your business really works. We update it regularly, and when a claim arises we help you deal with it – including the option of expert representation by lawyers who specialise in insurance claims.

Every business has different risks

It is not enough for your policy to say “business insurance”

A tradesperson working at customers’ premises needs different cover from the operator of a sports centre, and a construction company running several jobs at once needs something different again.

What counts is what you actually do, what assets you work with, what you are liable for and what a major loss would mean for you.

Weak spots are not always obvious at first sight:

  • The business has expanded its activities, but the insurance still reflects the original operation.

  • The value of buildings, equipment or stock now exceeds the amounts stated in the policy.

  • The overall liability limit looks sufficient, but a much lower limit applies to items taken in from customers.

  • Repairing damaged property is covered, but there is no protection for the resulting loss of business.

  • The construction insurance does not cover all the work carried out, the length of the contract or the subcontractors involved.

  • When a loss occurs, documentation is missing and part of the legitimate claims goes unclaimed.

So what matters is not just how much you pay for insurance. What counts is how it would work in the event of a specific loss in your business.

What we cover together

From sole traders and small premises to larger sites and construction projects

Business property, premises and stock

Buildings, offices, workshops, warehouses, equipment and goods. We check their value, how they are used, where they are located and how they are secured.

We also take into account seasonal changes in stock, new premises and assets you use away from your registered office. For leased and entrusted items, we verify whether – and on what terms – they are included in the cover.

The aim is to avoid a situation where a policy exists, but its scope or sums insured lag behind the actual state of the business.

Liability for damage in the course of business

Damage to a customer’s property, bodily injury or loss caused by a defective product or by work carried out can be worth far more than the job itself.

That is why we look at the specific activities you carry out and their possible consequences. We also check items taken in for repair or processing, leased property, work at customers’ premises and the territorial scope of the insurance.

Where the nature of the business requires it, we also deal with professional indemnity and financial losses that do not result from damage to property or health.

Business interruption

Repairing the building or replacing a machine is only one part of the problem. During the downtime, wages, rent and other costs may keep running while income falls.

We will help you judge whether business interruption insurance makes sense and which events it should follow on from. The time needed to get back up and running also matters – delivery of new equipment or repairs to the premises can take longer than it first seems.

Machinery, electronics and work equipment

A production machine, work equipment or electronic equipment can be essential to running the business. Standard property insurance may not cover their internal breakdown or operator error.

We look into machinery and electronics insurance, including mobile equipment used on jobs. We take into account how the equipment is operated and maintained, its value and the financial impact if it fails.

Construction and erection insurance

For construction and installation jobs, we arrange cover for work in progress, materials, site facilities, construction machinery and surrounding property.

Depending on the type of work, we assess insurance for a single project or a framework solution for repeat contracts. We pay attention to the construction period, trial operation, cover conditions during the warranty period and the involvement of subcontractors.

At the same time, we check how this ties in with your general business liability cover. Liability arranged for a specific construction project may not cover all the company’s other activities.

Company vehicles, fleets and transport

We will help you insure individual company vehicles as well as your whole fleet. Besides the price and excesses, we also look at how the vehicles are used and the scope of assistance.

If you transport goods, materials or equipment, we also assess the risks in transit. We distinguish between insuring the cargo itself and the carrier’s liability – they are different kinds of protection.

Owners’ associations, apartment buildings and rental properties

We also help owners’ associations, housing cooperatives and owners of rented properties.

We check the value of the building, the common parts, the building systems and the liability that comes with managing or owning the property. Where needed, we also deal with the liability of elected board members.

We take into account renovations, new building systems and changes in how the premises are used, so that the insurance reflects the actual state of the building.

Sports facilities, accommodation and other specialist operations

A sports ground, guesthouse, restaurant or holiday resort combines property protection with liability towards visitors and customers.

So we are interested not only in the building itself, but also in the activities on offer, the equipment, seasonal operation and any events you hold. On that basis we propose the scope of cover and check the conditions that matter for that particular operation.

Help when a claim arises

When a loss occurs, you need to run your business. Not study the policy terms on your own.

After a major loss, you are dealing with repairs, staff, customers and keeping the business going all at once. On top of that come requests for documentation, cost estimates and explanations of what happened.

An important part of what we offer is therefore the option of expert representation when handling insurance claims. We work with a group of lawyers who specialise in this field.

This support can be arranged in advance, so that if a loss occurs you know who to turn to and what to do. Within the agreed scope, the specialists will help you in particular with the following:

  • The right approach from the start

They assess the policy terms, help prepare the claim notification and advise what to document and provide. Early help reduces the risk that important facts cannot be proven later.

  • Documenting the true extent of the loss

They help record not only the visible damage, but also the related consequences and costs. Depending on the specific policy, remediation, clearance, drying out or other costs of restoring operations may be relevant.

  • Dealing with the insurer

They take over the technical communication and help with the paperwork and the course of the investigation. That gives you more time to devote to getting your business back on its feet.

  • Checking the settlement and the claims made

They check whether the loss assessment and the insurer’s position are in line with the policy and the documented facts. If a dispute arises over a reduced or rejected payout, they assess the reasons and the options for what to do next.

The point of this support is that you are not left to deal with the loss alone and can claim everything you are entitled to. We agree the scope of representation and the terms of the service with you in advance.

Regular reviews and updates

Your business changes. Your insurance has to keep up.

New premises, more expensive equipment, more stock, higher turnover or contracts abroad. Each of these changes can affect what insurance you need.

That is why we review your policies regularly and update them as needed. We check the sums insured, activities, insured locations, limits and important contractual provisions.

When the insurer changes the price, we assess whether the offer still matches the scope of cover and what is available on the market. An automatic increase in the premium or the sums insured is no substitute for a real review of the business.

When we look for a different solution, we also compare the less obvious differences: sub-limits, exclusions, excesses and how the cover fits together. A saving on the premium should not mean that a large part of the costs is left with you when a loss occurs.

How we work

First we understand how you operate. Then we design the cover.

  1. We get to know your business

We go through your activities, assets, premises, contracts and liability towards customers and business partners. We also want to know what would threaten the business most in the event of a major loss.

  2. We review your current set-up

We check your policies and how they fit together. We explain where the cover meets your needs and where there are gaps or limitations.

  3. We compare options and negotiate terms

We prepare clear options. For more complex risks, we also negotiate individual terms and any necessary extensions with insurers. We show you the benefits and the trade-offs of each solution.

  4. We remain your partner

We carry out regular reviews and help you respond to changes in the business. We also agree in advance how to proceed if a loss occurs and when to bring in specialist legal support.

Expertise

Even more complex business risks have a solution

We hold the professional qualification to distribute insurance for large risks as well. This means we can handle not only standard insurance for sole traders, but also larger operations and more demanding projects.

For us, what matters is not selling as many policies as possible. We want the individual solutions to fit together and match the real risks of your business.
